A Christian bestseller in Korea.

A Book that has returned South Korea to prayer!

《Ambassador of God》 by former Ambassador to China and Minister Kim Ha-Joong has been popular and bestselling book in South Korea from the time it was published. The book has sold over 300,000 copies in two years and continues to be loved by Korean readers.

Kim’s personal stories of how he relied on the living God and how he received answers to prayers have touched many readers. The book has challenged many readers to move from saying rote prayers to praying passionately,
in the Holy Spirit, to seek a genuine relationship with God. People’s hearts have been changed to pray for neighbors,
churches and nations. This is not a book that teaches about prayer, rather, through its inspiring stories,
it is a book that challenges and motivates people to pray.

The book has caused a sensation in Korea as soon as it was published. 《Ambassador of God》 was awarded the
“Most Popular Christian Book Award” in 2010 by a Christian daily newspaper in Korea.
The Korean Christian Publication Association (KCPA) and Korean Christian Booksellers Association (KCBA) selected
the book as number one best seller loved by Korean Christians in 2011. Furthermore, the Cooperation Committee for
Mission through Writing, the most authoritative coalition of different Christian Associations such as KCPA and KCBA,
honored Kim with the ‘Author of the Year Award’in 2011.

“We’re all Ambassadors of God!”

This book is about how God has worked in my daily life. Instead of praying for my selfish ambitions or for
my family’s success, I have always tried to pray for God’s Kingdom and righteousness. This book is like my own Book of Acts, documenting how God worked miraculously in answer to my prayers. It attempts to illustrate how God led me
to serve His beloved people and how He responded to my prayers.

In writing this book, I pray that God will work in similar ways in your lives. I believe that many who read this book will
come to believe in the living God, learn to pray in the Spirit, and seek guidance and counsel from the Lord. If we pray in the Spirit, we need not worry or be anxious. And we will be able to forgive and love others, and become people of the Holy Spirit who lead lives of courage.

- From Prologue

Foreword

Two years have passed since the 《Ambassador of God》 was published on 25 January 2010. Amazing things have happened during this time. The book has sold over 300,000 copies and was awarded the “Most Popular Christian Book Award” in 2010 by a Christian daily newspaper in Korea. The Korean Christian Publication Association (KCPA) and Korean Christian Booksellers Association (KCBA) selected the book as the number one best seller loved by Korean Christians in 2011. Furthermore, the Cooperation Committee for Mission through Writing, the most respected coalition of different Christian Associations such as KCPA and KCBA, honored me with the ‘Author of the Year Award’ in 2011. This all was possible only by the grace of God.
Every time I met non-Korean pastors or missionaries, I was asked to translate the book into English. I also received similar requests from Korean missionaries. When an American intercessor prayed for me in 2009, she prayed that I would be called to write a book that would show the next generation how God is pouring blessing over Korea. This was confirmed when I visited the U.S. and Canada, as many of the younger second generation Koreans there requested me to translate my book into English.
I had already been preparing for the English translation of the book. I would like to express my deep gratitude and love to my daughter Sae-Ryo and my niece Connie who have accompanied me through the process. It would not have been possible to publish the English translation without their support.
I decided to have the English translation published by Kyujang, the company that also published the Korean edition. I hope that the English translation will be published overseas in the future.
I also pray this book will be published in different languages including Chinese and Japanese. I pray that those who read the book will know that God is alive and live as prayer warriors, glorifying God as fellow Ambassadors of God.

김하중

A Book that has returned South Korea to prayer!

by Kim Ha-Joong(김하중)

is nicknamed “the praying Ambassador” and “the Ambassador who asks God”. During the six and half years he served as the Ambassador to China (on record, Kim is the longest serving Korean ambassador), Kim asked God about all matters praying that God’s kingdom would be realized through his work. When Kim acted in accordance with the answers he received, he saw miracles happen and God accomplish things that seemed impossible to men. This book is the story of how God worked through Kim to be an ambassador for His kingdom, while Kim was the Ambassador of the South Korean Government in China.

Kim performed his duties with the heart of Daniel and Nehemiah. Like Daniel, Kim sought the will of God and like Nehemiah, he used his position to help everyone, including the people of God. Kim believed that the reason that God had sent him as the Korean Ambassador to China was to serve the people of God just as Esther did. “And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

As the Korean Ambassador to China he sincerely loved China and the Chinese people. He had even interceded for some people for more than 10,000 times over a period of 15 years. Through his earnest prayers, the Korea-China relations strengthened and many Korean missionaries and pastors in China were encouraged. Kim challenges all modern day Christians. He stresses that all Christians are ‘Ambassadors of God’(Matthew 28:18-20). And Kim underlines that in order to live as Ambassadors of God we need to pray in the Spirit.

Kim graduated with a B.A. in Chinese Literature Studies from Seoul National University. He passed the Foreign Service Exam and served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director-General of Asia Pacific Affairs Bureau, Chief of Protocol to the President, Senior Secretary for Foreign Policy and National Security to the President, Ambassador to China and the Minister of Unification. Kim has also authored the book 《China, Dragon on the Rise》 and is an Elder at Onnuri Church in Korea.
